Dr. Jonathan Bulkley is a co-investigator on this project. His research concentrates on the development and application of both quantitative and qualitative means to help policy makers and decision makers attain improved planning, evaluation, and management of natural resources, especially water resources, while his teaching efforts at the University of Michigan are concentrated in water policy, risk-benefit analysis, and case studies in natural resources. Dr. Bulkley also serves as CO-Director, the Center for Sustainable Systems located in the School of Natural Resources and Environment. The mission of the Center is to develop life cycle based models and sustainability metrics to evaluate the performance and to guide the continuous improvement of systems for meeting societal needs. The center promotes sustainability by providing these tools and knowledge so that diverse stakeholders may make better informed decisions. Currently he serves on the International Upper Great Lakes Study of the International Joint Commission.
